
The Digital Marketing and Brand Management undergraduates of the NIBM School of Business successfully celebrated International Marketing Day 2026 and World Environment Day 2026 through a series of engaging industry-focused events that highlighted both marketing excellence and sustainability leadership. The celebrations brought together leading industry professionals, academics, sustainability advocates, and aspiring marketers, providing students with valuable opportunities for learning, networking, and professional development. As part of International Marketing Day, students participated in a range of insightful sessions led by industry experts.
Mr. Daham Heenatigala, Brand Manager – Maggi at Nestlé Sri Lanka, conducted an engaging workshop on branding and brand management, sharing practical insights into building and sustaining successful brands. Mr. Janaka Thilakarathne, Creative Director of Ogilvy Sri Lanka, inspired students through The Creative Den, exploring the power of creativity, storytelling, and innovative advertising. The programme also featured Thriving in Crisis, a masterclass by Mr. Kumar Galhenage, who discussed how organisations can successfully navigate uncertainty and emerge stronger during challenging times. Recognizing the importance of personal well-being in professional success, the celebrations also included a special session on Mindful Marketing and Personal Wellness conducted by Ms. Nimethri Gunasekara, Founder of Marketers Wellness Studio.
The session encouraged students to embrace mindfulness, emotional intelligence, resilience, and purpose-driven leadership while highlighting the importance of ethical and responsible marketing practices. In celebration of World Environment Day, the NIBM School of Business organised GREEN PRINT 2026, an insightful panel discussion focused on sustainability and responsible business practices. The panel featured Mr. Kolitha Ranawaka, Director of the NIBM School of Business, Dr. Baratha Dewanarayana, Head of the NIBM School of Business, and Mr. Lahiru Wijerathna, CEO of Modern Pack Lanka. The discussion explored climate action, sustainable innovation, and the critical role businesses and marketers play in creating a greener future.
Together, the International Marketing Day and World Environment Day celebrations reinforced the NIBM School of Business’s commitment to developing future-ready graduates equipped with industry knowledge, creativity, sustainability awareness, ethical values, and leadership capabilities. The initiatives were successfully coordinated under the guidance of Ms. Chulani Senarathna and Mr. Amila Dilshan, Lecturers-in-Charge of the Digital Marketing and Brand Management degree programme. Through such industry-focused engagements, the School continues to strengthen the connection between academic learning and professional practice, empowering students to become innovative, responsible, and globally minded marketing professionals capable of creating a positive impact on business, society, and the environment.
