Rusin Thathsara Presents “A Cosmonaut Planted a Dream” to the Prime Minister

Monday, 30th of November -0001

Rusin Thathsara, a student of Facilities Management at the University of Moratuwa’s Department of Building Economics, recently presented the inaugural copy of his 15th book, A Cosmonaut Planted a Dream, to the Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. A distinguished alumnus of Sivali Central College, Ratnapura, and a worldrecord holder for his previous work, Kamal Sagen Oxygen, Thathsara intends to hold an international launch for this new publication in Russia.

The book draws inspiration from a profound connection between history and the author’s own life: the first human in space, Yuri Gagarin, planted a tree at Sivali Central College on December 11, 1961, and exactly 40 years later, on that same date in 2001, Thathsara was born.

The first copies to be hand over to Russian House in colombo in Russian House 40th annivesary. This synchronisation serves as the narrative foundation for his astronomical explorations. A recipient of the National Astronomy Excellence Award at the Purawesi Abiman ceremony, Thathsara is also recognised as the creator of Sri Lanka’s first “Astronomy City” model.
