From Seven Students to a Complete Educational Journey: Lyceum’s Commitment to Sri Lanka’s Future
Thirty-three years ago, Lyceum International Schools began with a simple dream and just seven Montessori students. Today, that dream has grown into one of Sri Lanka’s leading international school networks, with ten campuses and nearly 28,000 students receiving quality English-medium education from preschool to Advanced Level.
From its inception, Lyceum has believed that education is not merely about academic achievement but about creating opportunities and empowering young people to build successful futures.
Over the years, thousands of Lyceum students have graduated with internationally recognised qualifications. However, despite their global acceptance, foreign Advanced Level qualifications are not recognised as entry qualifications for Sri Lankan state universities. As a result, many talented students have had only two options: pursue higher education at private institutions or continue their studies overseas. While both pathways offer excellent opportunities, they also place a considerable financial burden on many families.
For years, Lyceum parents encouraged us to consider establishing our own higher education institution—one that would maintain the academic standards and values of Lyceum while making quality higher education more accessible.
Listening to these requests, Lyceum Campus was established in 2022.
Today, Lyceum Campus offers a diverse range of Diploma, Higher Diploma, and Degree programmes in disciplines including Education, Information Technology, Business Management, Nursing, Psychology, and several other fields. In keeping with our commitment to continuous growth, we are pleased to announce the launch of our Engineering Degree Programme next year, further expanding opportunities for students pursuing careers in high-demand professions.
However, establishing a higher education institution was never intended to be simply another educational venture. It was created with a clear purpose—to support the families who have placed their trust in Lyceum over the years.
To make higher education significantly more affordable, Lyceum Campus offers Lyceum International School students the opportunity to pursue their higher education by paying only 50% of the standard tuition fees. This initiative reflects our belief that financial constraints should never prevent deserving students from achieving their academic aspirations.
Education is a lifelong journey. At Lyceum, our vision is to provide that journey under one trusted educational family—from a child’s very first day in Montessori to professional qualifications that prepare them for successful careers and meaningful lives.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to expanding opportunities, maintaining international academic standards, and investing in the next generation of Sri Lankan leaders, innovators, professionals, and entrepreneurs.
Our journey began with seven students. Today, it continues with tens of thousands of young people whose futures inspire us every day.
