SHEvolve ‘26, organised by AIESEC in University of Colombo, was successfully held on the 9th of May 2026 at the New Arts Theatre (NAT) of the University of Colombo. The event brought together inspiring voices, meaningful conversations, and a community passionate about empowering women. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, the atmosphere of the event felt even more special. The day served as a celebration of strength, resilience, femininity, and the importance of embracing individuality unapologetically.
The event was honoured by the presence of Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, whose attendance added significance to the occasion and reflected the university’s commitment to empowering and nurturing future leaders. The event also featured Ms. Gangulee Walpola, Attorney-at-Law and public figure, as the Chief Guest. Through her inspiring address, she shared valuable insights on authenticity, confidence, and staying true to oneself despite societal expectations and the pressures of the digital age.
The Keynote Speech was delivered by Ms. Yasodhara Pathanjali, British Sri Lankan life coach, educator, and Co-founder of the Independent Collective School. Her session encouraged delegates to embrace their individuality, think critically, and confidently navigate an ever-evolving world while recognising the unique strengths and potential within themselves. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the event, Mr. Anderson Kirubaharan conducted an engaging entertainment session that energised the audience and created memorable moments throughout the day.

His interactive approach encouraged participation, fostered connections among delegates, and brought a lively balance to the discussions. The panel discussion, themed “Beyond the Surface: Rethinking the Realities of Being a Woman,” brought together an exceptional lineup of speakers who explored the challenges and opportunities faced by women in contemporary society. Ms. Gangulee Walpola, Attorney-at-Law and public figure, shared her perspectives on authenticity, self-expression, and navigating personal and professional life in an increasingly digital world. Dr. Ayisha Ziauddin, Family Medicine Specialist and Co-founder of the Muslim Women’s Collective, highlighted the importance of mental well-being, self-worth, and building meaningful support systems.
Ms. Vithara Mannage, Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Business Management at APIIT Sri Lanka, inspired delegates to embrace opportunities, challenge limitations, and cultivate environments that support empowered women. Adding a unique perspective to the discussion, Sadé Greenwood, Miss World Sri Lanka 2021 and Co-founder of Mullwood, encouraged young women to celebrate their individuality and pursue their aspirations with confidence. Together, the panelists fostered meaningful conversations on empowerment, resilience, leadership, and the evolving realities of being a woman in today’s society. One of the key themes throughout the event was authenticity in a world increasingly shaped by social media and external expectations.

The speakers encouraged young women to embrace their uniqueness, prioritise their mental well-being, and define success on their own terms rather than through society’s standards. Discussions surrounding self-worth, leadership, digital identity, and women’s empowerment created an engaging and thought-provoking environment for delegates. The panel discussion especially highlighted the realities women face in modern society while also emphasizing the importance of empathy, confidence, and supportive communities. Beyond the discussions, SHEvolve ‘26 created a safe and inspiring space for individuals to connect, reflect, and celebrate the power of women uplifting one another.
From interactive sessions to moments of laughter, honesty, and vulnerability, the event became more than just a conference, it became a shared experience of growth and empowerment. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Ms. Gangulee Walpola, Ms. Yasodhara Pathanjali, Mr. Anderson Kirubaharan, Dr. Ayisha Ziauddin, Ms. Vithara Mannage, Ms. Sadé Greenwood, our partners, sponsors, delegates, and organising committee members who contributed to making SHEvolve ‘26 a meaningful and memorable event. As SHEvolve ‘26 continues to grow, so does its mission: to create conversations that matter, inspire action, and empower individuals to become the most authentic versions of themselves.
