Intech Campus marked an important milestone on 8 February, 2026 when it was officially accredited as a Study Centre for the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK). It enables the institute to commence globally recognised CIM qualifications in Sri Lanka. Since its establishment in 2020, the campus has worked towards expanding its academic reach, and this accreditation represents a meaningful advancement in that direction.

Over the past six years, Intech Campus has positioned itself firmly within Sri Lanka’s vocational education landscape. Its emphasis has consistently been on affordability, convenience and relevance. Rather than replicating traditional academic models, the campus has concentrated on career-oriented programmes aligned with current labour market demand. That clarity of focus has helped it develop a distinct and practical identity.

The founding vision, to be the most trusted and value-added education partner in Sri Lanka, continues to guide its direction. Central to this vision is a commitment to facilitating and guiding students along their chosen career paths through structured academic support. The broader objective is to equip learners with the competencies required to function confidently as global professionals. Intech Campus serves both school leavers and working professionals, recognising that these groups stand at different stages of the same professional journey. For school leavers, the focus lies in building a strong foundation.

For working professionals, the emphasis shifts towards progression and career advancement. Courses are therefore structured at varying levels, with subject combinations tailored to individual needs and evolving industry expectations. Syllabi are reviewed and updated regularly to remain aligned with contemporary global standards. The accreditation by CIM-UK represents a particularly significant development within this framework. The Chartered Institute of Marketing is the only chartered professional body dedicated to marketing worldwide, and its qualifications are widely respected across industries and countries.

Recognition as an accredited Study Centre signals that Intech Campus has met the quality benchmarks required to deliver these programmes effectively. The institute has acknowledged the guidance extended by Ms. Maggie Johns, Director Qualifications & Partnerships at CIM (UK), and Ms. Sherin Fernando, Education Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, whose support contributed to the successful completion of the accreditation process. From a student’s perspective, studying at an officially accredited CIM Study Centre offers clear advantages. A CIM qualification carries global recognition and professional credibility in a field that is increasingly competitive and dynamic.

Employers seek individuals who combine theoretical understanding with applied competence. A structured professional pathway such as CIM provides that balance. One of the most accessible entry points is the CIM Foundation Level, which is open to students who have completed their Ordinary Level examinations. At Intech Campus, O/L completers may begin their marketing journey at this stage, gaining exposure to essential marketing principles while developing practical insight into real-world application. The Foundation Level introduces core concepts in a structured manner and lays the groundwork for progression to higher stages within the CIM framework. Importantly, the pathway is designed to be flexible.

Students may continue their studies while pursuing employment or additional academic qualifications, advancing step by step towards higher and postgraduate levels. This progression makes the qualification attractive not only to school leavers but also to working professionals seeking to formalise and elevate their marketing expertise. In Sri Lanka’s competitive higher education environment, many students and parents focus primarily on Advanced Level results and state university admission. While this remains a valued route, alternative and parallel professional pathways are increasingly relevant. A globally recognised qualification such as CIM can function as both a complementary credential and a strategic alternative, particularly for students seeking early professional direction.

The structured progression also allows learners to pursue advanced studies, including postgraduate research, should they wish to do so in the future. Beyond CIM, Intech Campus offers a range of vocational and creative programmes designed to enhance employability and practical skill development. Diplomas and Certificate-level courses include Graphic Design, Video Production and Editing, Photography, ICT, AutoCAD, Business English, Advertising, 2D/3D Animation and the MS Office package, among others. These programmes reflect an understanding that modern careers often require a combination of technical ability, communication skills and digital literacy. Marketing intersects naturally with creative and technical disciplines.

The integration of marketing knowledge with design, media production or digital skills strengthens a student’s professional profile and broadens career opportunities. The campus therefore positions its programme portfolio as complementary pathways rather than isolated offerings. Intech Campus is registered with Sri Lanka’s Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) and maintains a panel of industry professionals alongside qualified academicians. Its approach blends theoretical instruction with practical application, ensuring that students are able not only to understand concepts but also to implement them effectively.

Where possible, the institute leverages its industry connections to facilitate internship opportunities for high-performing students. Leadership remains central to the institution’s ethos. The Chairman, Mr. K. Siri Withanage, is a respected educationist and Chemistry lecturer with more than four decades of experience. Having guided thousands of students across generations, he brings a strong commitment to academic integrity and professional excellence. Under his stewardship, the institute continues to prioritise the development of skilled and adaptable graduates.

The accreditation as a CIM Study Centre marks a new phase of growth for Intech Campus. It reflects an expanded academic portfolio and a strengthened global orientation. For students seeking a structured and internationally respected route into the marketing profession, the commencement of CIM courses at Intech Campus presents a timely opportunity.
