P. Nithya Divyanjalie who won the Gold Medal at the Sri Lanka Karate Championship- 2018, was given a warm welcome by the school principle Enoka Rajapaksha, the Prefect’s Board and her classmates of Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya. She was accompanied by her parents and the Guest of Honour - Rev. Fr. Ranjith Terry-the Parish Priest and Mahinda Suwaris, the Coach. Addressing the gathering, Mahinda Suwaris explained how Nithya achieved this huge accomplishment even with the minimum facilities. He praised her endurance and commitment towards the game.
The golden lass, Nithya Divyanjalie sounded her voice extending her gratitude to Rev. Fr. Ranjith Terry for providing the church hall to practices and she highly commended the coach, the Principal and the Teacher-in-Charge for encouraging her and for helping her to overcome all the obstacles. The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ranjith Terry extended his blessings upon the gold medalist and praised the school and the school principle for her dedication to the school. He also said that Nithya’s win brings glory not only for the school and but for the whole Pitipana Village. Nithya Divyanjalie is the first student of Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya, to win a gold medal at an All Island Championship of the game of Karate.
