Lyceum Wattala create history with U-19 Division II Tier ‘A’ triumph

In a landmark achievement for school cricket in Sri Lanka, Lyceum International School, Wattala made history by emerging as champions of the Inter-School Under-19 Division II Tier ‘A’ Tournament 2025/26, becoming the first internation- al school in the country to secure this prestigious title. Displaying exceptional skill, discipline and determination, Lyceum Wattala delivered an outstanding perfor mance across 11 matches, recording an impressive tally of eight outright victories.

Their domi- nance was evident not only in the results, but also in the commanding manner of their wins. The team showcased remarkable consistency, over coming strong traditional cricketing schools, including Sri Devananda College, Vidyaloka College, Tissa Central College, St. John’s College, Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Vidyartha College and Kingswood College. Their performances reflected maturity, resilience and a deep understanding of the game.

This historic success stands as a true reflection of the play- ers’ dedication, teamwork and the strong sporting culture within the school.
