Gov to provide foreign university scholarships for A/L students

The cabinet has approved a scholarship scheme for top-ranked GCE A/L students to pursue a degree at foreign universities.

Rs 200 million has been allocated in the 2025 Budget for the programme, aimed at students with the highest Z-scores in main subject streams.

Scholarships will be offered for a maximum of four years at universities ranked within the top 500 globally, that offer English medium programmes.

Under the first phase, 20 to 50 students will be selected in 2025. The final selection will be made by an expert panel of university professors and doctors.
