Teacher Educator Service transfers from next year

Friday, 16th of August 2024

Officers in the Sri Lanka Teacher Educator Service (SLTES) will be liable for transfers from next year after completing 8 years of service. Those who are employed at the National Colleges of Education (NCE), Teacher Training Colleges and Teacher Centres would be subjected to the annual transfers. This includes all officers presently serving in Grades I, II and III of SLTES (including the President and the Vice President of NCE, and the Principal of Teacher Training Colleges). All officers who have completed a service period of 8 years, or a service period higher than the mentioned amount at a certain place of work, are subject to transfers even though they have not applied for transfers.

According to the circular issued by the Education Ministry on August 20, officers serving in the posts of President and Vice President of NCEs and the principal of Teacher Training Colleges who have served a minimum of 5 years in their posts are eligible to apply for a transfer. Other officers in SLTES who have completed a minimum service period of 2 years are eligible to apply for a transfer. The officers who are above 55 years of age are not generally transferred out of the province unless it is a request made by the officer owing to other specific reasons such as discipline and service necessities. They are subject to transfers within the province in accordance with exigencies of service. -KW
