Ravindu Laksiri and Fathoum Issadeen clinched the top spots winning the Men’s and Women’s Open Championships at the SLS Open Squash Championships 2019 concluded at the Sri Lanka Air Force Squash courts last weekend. The SLS Open Squash Championship, the first open ranking tournament of the year attracted a large number of young talent islandwide. Conducted with junior events from Under 9 category for boys and girls and all the way to the Over 50 veterans category.
Laksiri rode to glory defeating his doubles partner Shameel Wakeel 3-1 in the Men’s Open finals. Issadeen with a straight set win over 17-year-old schoolmate Sameera Deen was crowned the Women’s Open Champion. Gihan Swaris won the third spot in the Men’s Open while Yehani Kuruppu trounced Devmini Gallage in the Men’s category to win the 3rd spot. D. Gallage clinched her maiden title winning the Under 19 Girls event beating Sameera Deen. In the Boys category of the same age group M. Wood defeated D.H.T. Randima to win the championship crown.
