Teachable moment: Development Officers ask to be recruited as teachers

The Union of All Ceylon School Development Officers this week launched a protest campaign outside the Fort Railway Station in Colombo demanding they be recruited as teachers as they have already been working as teachers in rural and estate schools for the past six years. They first held a protest opposite the President’s office last Monday to launch the protest campaign outside the railway station. Teachers from different provinces have been taking turns at the protest. They said they were expecting a solution with the next budget.
