Lyceum International School, Wattala, celebrated a major victory at the prestigious Sir John Tarbet Athletic Meet, emerging as champions in the Girls' Overall Category. Held at the Sugathadasa Sports Complex, the event showcased the school’s impressive athletic prowess, reaffirming Lyceum Wattala’s dedication to fostering a strong sports culture. The girls' team shone brightly, clinching the top position with 189 points. They were crowned overall champions in both the Under 16 and 18 categories while securing runners-up in the Under 20 category.
The team’s dominance extended to individual event areas as well, with victories as overall champions in track and relay events, and finishing as runners up in field events. Star athlete Dilni Rajapakse added to the school’s triumph by being named the Overall Best Long Jumper and Overall Best Athlete in the girls', category underscoring her exceptional performance. Not to be outdone, the boys' team also performed admirably, finishing as 3rd runner-up in the overall standings with 70 points. They achieved runners-up status in the Under 20 category and excelled in the field events, emerging as overall champions. Additionally, they earned the title of out-of-district runners-up. Sandun Koshala was named the Overall Best Athlete in the boys' category, further enhancing the school's athletic accolades. This remarkable achievement highlights Lyceum Wattala’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded students who excel not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities, particularly in sports.
