Grades 8-12 students to have free access to Cambridge Climate Quest
The Government unveiled two initiatives to improve Sri Lanka’s education system on Tuesday (25) as part of the fresh educational reforms. One initiative is all students will soon have free access to the self-paced study course Cambridge Climate Quest, which is intended for students in Grades 8 through 12. This extensive programme, which is available in all three official languages, aims to provide young learners with the fundamental knowledge they need to understand sustainability and the climate. Upon successful completion, participants will receive Cambridge certification.
Scholars from the University of Cambridge research wing, Cambridge Zero, which spearheads international efforts in climate and sustainability studies, have developed the programme. Second, Australia’s Flinders University plans to open an offshore campus in Sri Lanka offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees as well as pathway programmes in a variety of fields, including engineering, information technology, business studies, management, finance, marketing, and medicine.
This new campus seeks to meet the regional demand for higher education. It is anticipated that Flinders University’s presence in Sri Lanka will improve the nation’s educational offerings and increase Lankan students’ access to world-class education. This follows President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s goal of building the most cutting-edge, future-focused educational system in South Asia.-NA
