Scholarships for Engineering Higher Education from Sri Lanka Technological Campus

Sunday, 2nd of September 2018

Based on the extraordinary response the ENTECH Merit Based Youth Excellence Scholarship received from the students who had excelled in their G.C.E Advanced Level in 2017, Sri Lanka Technological Campus has decided to present this opportunity to a wider student community by introducing the scholarship to both 2018 Edexcel and Cambridge A/L candidates who have recently received their results. As a result students applying for the 2018 September Engineering Intake will be eligible for scholarships up to 100% purely on the merit of their performance at the Advanced Level examination. “This is the first time in Sri Lanka that students have been offered this kind of scholarship,” stated Eng. Ranjith Rubasinghe, President of SLTC.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, we have taken this initiative to encourage aspiring and talented students to achieve their dreams and goals, as well as ensure a future generation of qualified innovators to lead this nation towards excellence.” Under the guidance of the Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure, the Sri Lanka Technological Campus was launched with the motive of realizing Sri Lanka’s vision of becoming the knowledge hub in Asia. SLTC’s Engineering degree programmes are accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka.

Applications are now being called for the September Intake which is mainly focused on the 2+2 international transfer programmes, where the students are given the opportunity to read the first two years of their engineering degree at SLTC and transfer to an affiliated international university for its completion. Since the last intake SLTC has broaden the portfolio of International affiliations to a number of high ranking universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam enabling its students to transfer to some of the world’s highest ranking universities such as Lancaster University UK, Deakin University Australia, RMIT Australia and Vietnam and Lincoln University Australia. These are some of the most recognized international universities to ever be affiliated to a higher education institute in Sri Lanka.

In addition to the after A/L programmes SLTC has also introduced multiple engineering pathways making it possible for any individual who wants to pursue a career in engineering to begin their studies immediately. The RMIT Engineering Foundation Studies programme is a two semester program designed for those who wish to begin their engineering studies right after O/Ls. This programme, offered for the first time in Sri Lanka, allows students who successfully complete the course to register for the first year of an Engineering degree at RMIT Melbourne / Australia or any recognized Australian University. Students also have the opportunity to study the first two years at SLTC at a minimal cost before they transfer in the third year.

The new semester for 2018 begins in mid September for all programmes. Students are invited to an Open Day at twhe SLTC City Campus at TRACE Expert City Colombo 10 on the 7th and 8th of September where they will have the opportunity of meeting with and discussing their degree programmes with the SLTC academia and staff. This will also provide an opportunity to get an insight into the life of an SLTC Engineering Undergraduate’s university experience. Sri Lanka Technological Campus still remains the only corporate powered, research based university to provide on campus residential facilities to all its undergraduates throughout their stay at the university.

As a university focused on research and Outcome Based Education, SLTC maintains a high percentage (over 80%) of PhDs throughout the year. As an entity focused on providing its students a holistic university experience Sri Lanka Technological Campus has expanded its infrastructure by adding a new sports complex and amphitheatre in addition to the hostels, study areas, lecture halls and laboratories. In addition to the main campus situated in the sprawling 35 acre land in the SLT Satellite Earth Station in Padukka, SLTC also has two other campuses in TRACE Expert City Colombo and Malambe.
