Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) President Professor Barana Jayawardena has been appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Peradeniya (UoP). A former Head of the Department of Animal Sciences, Prof Jayawardena has contributed to advancing agricultural education and research. He holds a BSc in Agriculture, specialising in Animal Science from the UoP. He pursued postgraduate studies at Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Japan, earning an MSc in Food Hygiene and a PhD in the same field.
