CINEC delivers Sri Lanka’s first-ever Ministry of Education–approved Master’s programmes in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, meeting world-class academic standards

CINEC Campus (Pvt) Ltd, established in 1990, is one of Sri Lanka’s most distin- guished non-state higher education insti- tutions. Located in Malabe, a scenic and well-connected suburb of Colombo, the campus has expanded steadily over more than three decades to become one of the largest and most diverse education provid- ers in the country. Today, CINEC offering more than 200 academic programmes serving over 22,000 students annually through its main campus in Malabe, the CINEC Business School in Dehiwala, and regional campusesin Jaffna and Trincomalee.

Adding to its programme portfolio, The Department of Postgraduate Studies of the Faculty of Health Sciences at CINEC Campus continues to strengthen postgraduate education with the offering of two UGC-recognised and Ministry of Higher Education approved Master’s degree programmes in the fields of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical sciences. The MSc in Biomedical Sciences (SLQF Level 10) is a two-year, part-time pro- gramme comprising 60 credits and it is delivered through a combination of coursework and research, providing in- depth theoretical knowledge and hands-on research training.

The programme is designed with progressive academic and professional pathways, enabling gradu- ates to fulfill entry requirements for MPhil and PhD degrees within the same field of specialisation. It suppor ts advancement in academic and research careers, enhances employability in research and development sectors, and provides the necessary qualifications for specialised laboratory roles. In addition, the faculty offers the MSc in Pharmaceutical Science, a two-year, part- time programme comprising 60 credits and aligned with SLQF Level 10.

This programme integrates coursework and research to deliver advanced training in pharmaceutical sciences, equipping gradu- ates with the competencies required for senior roles in the pharmaceutical indus- try and related research environments. Further expanding opportunities for pro- fessional development, a one-year, part- time Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science by coursework (SLQF Level 9), con- sisting of 30 credits, is also offered. This programme focuses on strengthening core and applied knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences, catering to professionals seeking career advancement through structured postgraduate study.
