CA Sri Lanka Invests in Future Leaders with over 100 Scholarships
In an effort to continue ensuring that every student has equal access to quality international professional education, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) proudly hosted its annual scholarship award ceremony, honouring exce ptional students from across the country who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the G C E Advanced Level Examination in the Commerce stream.
The ceremony was a landmark occasion that reaffirmed CA Sri Lanka’s enduring commitment to nurturing future financial and business professionals, and to ensuring that academic excel- lence is recognised and supported regardless of different socioeco- nomic background.
The awards ceremony was graced by Professor Narada Fernando, Chairman of People’s Bank, as Chief Guest, Mr Tishan Subasinghe, President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr Sanjaya Bandara, Chairman of the CA Foundation Committee, and Ms Lakmali Priyangika, Chief Executive Officer. A total of 97 scholarships were awarded under the L.A. Weerasinghe Scholarship Scheme on the recommendation of the CA Foundation, provid- ing vital financial assistance to students who have achieved out- standing results at the GCE Advanced Level Examination.
The scholarships were con- ferred on students who met the criteria of academic excellence combined with demonstrated financial need. To be eligible, students must have achieved a minimum of 2As and 1B in the Commerce stream at the GCE Advanced Level, and hail from households with a f amily income below LKR 600,000 per annum. These criteria ensure that support is directed to stu- dents who are both highly deserving and in need of finan- cial assistance.
Early this month, CA Sri Lanka also awarded CA scholar- ships to the top ten commerce achievers of the 2025 G.C.E. A/L Examination, opening doors for them to embark on a transform- ative professional jour ney towards becoming world-class Chartered Accountants. Through initiatives such as the L.A. Weerasinghe Scholarship Scheme, CA Sri Lanka continues to open path- ways for talented students to pursue higher education and build meaningful careers in the ever-evolving business world. Beyond financial support, the programme represents a broad- er commitment to transforming potential into opportunity and shaping a new generation of ethical, capable and globally competitive professionals.

The global reach of the qualification is reflected in the fact that over 40% of its members are today employed in more than 42 countries, under- scoring the universal recogni- tion and value of the CA Sri Lanka qualification
