
The international symposium, IntSym - 2025 was held at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka recently. The event, themed “Leading Sustainable Development t h rough Te chnolo gical Change”, was attended by academics, researchers and students from across the globe from various disciplines. The event was inaugurated by the Symposium Coordinator, Senior Professor A L A Rauff, who delivered the welcome addre s s. Vice Chancellor Professor S M Junaideen was present.
The key not e speaker was Professor Ashharul Karim of Queensland University of Technology, Australia, who discussed the impact of technological change and its contributions to sustainable development. Over 100 research papers were submitted to the symposium, which were divided into five sub-themes and discussed. These included sustainable development, technological advances, social and cultural impacts, interdisciplinary approaches, education and capacity building.
The panel discussion moderated by Dr H M Nizam featured several faculty members presenting their views and emphasising the integration of science, technology and humanities. The symposium reaffirmed the important role of the university in the global education and research community.
