Junior Golfers of Lyceum Nuwara Eliya Compete Regional Golf Championship

Sunday, 5th of October 2025

Lyceum International School Nuwara Eliya in collaboration with Nuwara Eliya Gold Club, offers golf to its students symbolising a significant breakthrough in sports. Through their dedication and skill, Lyceum Nuwara Eliya’s junior golfers shone at the Kandy Regional Junior Open Golf Championship 2025, with Thuwakaran Prabagaran securing 2nd Runner-Up in the Boys’ Bronze Division and Hakshana Predeep earning 2nd Runner-Up in the Girls’ Copper Division, held at the Victoria Golf Resort last week. The victory showcases students' growing interest over golf, which in turn offers them physical, mental and social benefits that can improve their health.

This outdoor game, deeply rooted in Nuwara Eliya descending from the British, is a living history that the school is providing for students to instill them with mental benefits such as self-confidence, stress reduction, mindfulness, focus and emotional well-being. Beyond physical and mental development, Golf teaches valuable life skills like social integration, communication and sense of community. The Principal, Ms. Princy Ratnayake along with the members of the management and the staff take this landmark achievement to congratulate the winners for their splendid victory and wish them courage and strength to face new challenges with integrity.
