Lyceum International School Nugegoda Triumphs at All-Island Under-13 Doubles Badminton Tournament 2024
The All-Island Schools Under-13 Doubles Badminton Tournament took place in Kandy from October 21st to 24th, 2024. The Lyceum International School, Nugegoda boys’ team emerged as champions in the D Division, securing victory over Lyceum International School Gampaha in an intense final match. Throughout the tournament, Lyceum Nugegoda showcased remarkable talent and resilience, defeating Kegalu Vidyalaya - Kegalle, Maliyadeva College - Kurunegala, and Gateway College - Colombo in the preliminary rounds.
The final match was a closely contested event, with Lyceum Nugegoda prevailing over Lyceum Gampaha in a 3-2 set victory. The team received exceptional guidance from coaches Mr. Iresh De Silva and Mr. Charith Wijenayake, with Ms. Sasini Hansamali serving as the dedicated teacher-in-charge. This victory reflects the hard work and dedication of the team and their supporters, and highlights the growing prominence of youth badminton across the island.
