Over 250 youngsters from the Sabaragamuwa Province took part in the Grassroots Coach Education Programme held in Kegalle. The four-day programme was organised and conducted by the Technical Department of Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL). The main objective of the programme was conducted targeting the Physical Education Teachers in Sabaragamuwa Province, which was held from September 25 to 28 at the Kegalu Vidyalaya ground.
“The objective of organising these Grassroots programmes is to improve and develop the knowledge of teachers about the Grassroots Level Football in the country with a vision of developing young kids into talented and skillful players for the future which would help to build strong national teams,” said the FFSL issuing a statement.
A total of 30 physical education teachers from the respective schools in Sabaragamuwa Province participated for this coach education programme and 250 children participated for the grassroots festival on the final day of the programme representing schools in the Kegalle District. The coach education programme was instructed by the Acting Technical Director of FFSL, Chaminda Steinwall and was assisted by Samantha Bogodawatta. The programme was coordinated by Football Coordinator of FFSL, Jude Fernando.
