Lyceum’s Visharad Dilum Niranga Wins State Music Award for Folk- Based New Creation (Group)

Visharad Dilum Niranga, Head of Eastern Music at Lyceum International Schools, was awarded Be s t New Creation Based on Folk Songs (Group) – Composer at the State Music Awards Ceremony, held recently. This honour is particularly significant as two of the nominated compositions were created exclusively for Lyceum International Schools. Among them is the popular Sinhala– Tamil New Year song“, composed during Sri Lanka’s economic crisis in 2022.

Despite the challenges faced during this period, the composition emerged as a symbol of hope, unity, and cultural harmony. The second nominated work, “ ”, was specially composed for Lyceum Kurunegala and performed at Maathra 2025, further showcasing the institution’s commitment to preserving and promoting folk-based musical heritage.

Lyceum International Schools extends its congratulations to Visharad Dilum Niranga on this well-earned national recognition, which reflects his dedication to music education and cultural excellence.
