Parliament Sec-Gen attends St Paul’s Girls’ School Student Parliament

The Student Parliament of St Paul’s Girls’ School, Milagiriya was inaugurated recently. Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera attended the ceremony as chief guest. Addressing the ceremony, Ms Rohanadeera emphasised that when women possess knowledge and skills, they can overcome all challenges and move forward. In her remarks, she also highlighted the significant responsibilities undertaken by the current female parliamentarians, who are a minority in parliament, and educated the students regarding the parliamentary process and its functions.

The event was organised in collaboration with the school and Parliament’s Communications Department, aiming to provide students at St Paul’s with practical experiences related to parliamentary procedures. Principal Sureka Siriwardena, the Deputy Principal, teacher-in-charge of the Student Parliament Dhamika Dissanayake, staff and parents were present on the occasion.
