A land dispute between two schools which should have been solved by the Central Province Educat ion Department has dragged on for years, putting children at risk. Central Province Governor who had to intervene in this issue told the two Principals and Department officials that they should take into account the welfare of the children. He said that the land is State property and that they should act accordingly for the benefit of the children than for themselves or prestige.
The dispute had arisen between Ukuwela Kuriwela Mahinda Rajapaksa Navodaya Maha Vidyalaya and Kuriwela Hameediya College over State land. The Governor called for a report from the Matale Education Department, and told officials that once the report is available he would make his observations.
