Life after A/Ls
When you are getting ready to face high school exams, you may feel like the whole world has been kept on your shoulders. By the time you complete A/Ls you would know where you are heading to. While some of you may have plans to pursue higher studies, some of you may still be clueless. Either due to family pressure or because you feel you are fed up of studies, you may start to work somewhere and find some money. But A/Ls is not the end of your education. As youth in a competitive world, A/Ls is the stepping stone for your future career path. What lies ahead is your responsibility and parents have a role to play in convincing their children to pursue their higher studies. It could be a diploma or a degree but with such a qualification you will feel secure in the long run. There are instances when your certificates may have to speak for themselves and it is not possible if you just produce your A/L results.
Therefore a safer to face your future is to pursue higher studies or in the simplest way to obtain a degree. It is normal for the youth to feel that they need to enjoy their life. This is true but pursuing higher education is a lot more fun than school. Here you get to meet like-minded youth and be a part of a bigger, mature family. There are various private and state institutions that encourage students to get involved in sports and other extra activities where they get to bond with each other. This way they can have fun while studying. Of course their could be stressors such as the cost factor but it is worth it. The more you waste time after A/Ls, the more you will lag behind than your peers. As the world has become more competitive, there is no time to waste. Every minute counts and therefore it’s time for the youth to realize this for themselves. Higher education institutes are ready to offer their students with the best possible experience with scholarships and other benefits.
It’s not a challenging episode anymore as Sri Lanka is a potential destination for more higher education institutes with affiliations to international universities. You could always consult them and find more information about the programmes they offer. Another interesting option is to travel abroad and study. There you will have a different experience altogether. Some universities also offer courses while you could work. As such there is a world of opportunities out there for you to explore. This is the best time in your youth. So make use of it before you are too late. Education is never a boring exercise and we always learn new things everyday. It is the first step to a brighter future. You can always opt to divert your career paths but it is important that you know the technicalities. Without the knowledge you cannot move closer to your dreams and therefore, set foot into a degree or a diploma of your choice. It’s either now or never.
