The annual Career Fair of the Peradeniya University's Faculty of Engineering was held on January 26 at the Faculty premises. Nearly 70 representatives from 17 Industrial establishments participated at the event. The final year students of all Engineering disciplines who completed the 4-year BSc Eng. programme were able to meet their prospective employers on that day. The industrial participants, on the other hand, got an opportunity to screen potential candidates for future recruitment. The inauguration ceremony was held at the E.O.E. Pereira Theatre from 8.30 am to 9.30 am.
Vice Chancellor Prof Upul B. Dissanayake along with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Gemunu Herath, University Career Guidance Unit Director Prof. Nimal Dharmasena, and Institution of Engineers of Sri Lanka President Prof. T.M. Pallewatta graced the occasion. Mr. Taya Diaz, representing the Principal Sponsor 'Lanwa', in an inspiring speech at the ceremony, described the expansion plans of his Company and highlighted the importance of having necessary “Soft Skills” for success in the career of an Engineer.
