In today’s interconnected world, communication through social media is not an option but a requirement. The rapid growth of internet services, such as Facebook, You Tube, Twitter, Google, Instagram, etc. has forced every profession to be “social media savvy”. It has been observed that brand loyalty is dependent on one’s ability to leverage the power of social media to build connections with the rest of the world. In this light, the HND in Computer Science program offered at ANC, in collaboration with SQA, is designed in such a way that it covers a wide range of skills including designing and maintaining a website and using social media in a meaningful way to promote a brand in addition to general skills and theoretical knowledge that meet the needs of employers.

They include a collection of fundamental concepts in areas, such as, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, web development, database, Computer Security and so on. SQA Qualifications SQA is an international awarding body with a global reputation for quality. It boasts 100 years of experience in qualification design and offers a range of higher national diplomas with practical approaches to learning in a wide range of subjects. SQA works in partnership with schools, colleges, universities, and industry within the UK and internationally. SQA is accountable to the British government and works in close partnership with approved centers to ensure that the standards of its qualifications are consistently monitored and maintained.

Delivered across the world, these HNDs are widely recognized as the equivalent to the first two years of a three-year bachelor’s degree. Students can “top-up” their HND qualifications by progressing directly to third year degree at 70 universities (SQA Progression Partners) across the globe (50+ countries). HNDs can also lead students directly into their chosen career, and HND qualifications are highly regarded by employers because of their practical, skillbased content: in addition to specific subject knowledge, students develop transferable skills, study skills, and employability skills.

Launch Your Career with ANC’s Guaranteed Paid Student Internship (GPSI) Program ANC students are encouraged to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field of study through ANC’s Guaranteed Paid Student Internship (GPSI) program, a partnership between ANC and some of the leading brands in Sri Lanka, including MAS Holding, Virtusa, Samsung, DIMO, Hilton, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, and Heyleys. Employment opportunities are guaranteed in IT operations, business analysis, database administration, software engineering, project management, Networking, computer security and web development.

Entry Criteria:

Minimum 2 passes in Local/ London A/L or
Minimum 5 credits (including “C” s for Math and English) at Local/ London O/ L+ successful completion of ANC foundation program

Duration: 2 Years and 4 Months:

HND (16 months) + Top-up Degree (12 months) Progression to a First-rate Top-up Degree Offered by the University of West London (at ANC) ANC has an articulation agreement with the University of West London (UWL), the UK to allow HND graduates to articulate onto the 3rd year of a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Business/ Hospitality Management/ Psychology (Articulation means progression from one course to another and is used here when referring to progression routes from HND to a degree at university). These business and psychology graduates can continue on to complete a Master’s degree in 12-15 months.

University of West London is the best university in London for student satisfaction according to National student survey (NSS) 2017 as well as the top modern university in London for employment, with Over 97% of UWL graduates in employment or further study within six months of graduation (Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA)-July 2017). UWL also boasts over 150 years of excellence in teaching and professional education.
