Swinburne rated as top 3 Victorian university for student satisfaction

The transition from school to university is one of the most difficulties periods in a student’s life. In addition to this challenge, adding the burden of relocating in another country, away from friends, family and loved ones, can be a traumatic period too. Adjusting to the new university can be the final nail on the coffin.

Swinburne Rated High for Student Satisfaction

Swinburne has been ranked in the top three for student satisfaction compared with other Victorian universities in new data released by the QILT. Swinburne students positively rated their satisfaction with Overall Quality of Educational Experience at 82.1 per cent, the third highest rating amongst Victorian universities. The national average was rated at 79.9 percent. The new statistics show that Swinburne has invested in improving the quality of the student experience. This is also seen in other aspects of the university and its education. “These results see us ranked at the top end of the spectrum when it comes to the overall educational experience and teaching quality, and we will use this as a solid foundation on which to grow,” Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Academic) Professor Duncan Bentley says. “Our new strategic initiatives should see us further enhance the learning experience at Swinburne, as we look to revolutionize the way we nurture and develop confident and enterprising learners.”

Exceeding the National Average in Teaching Quality

Swinburne also scored highly on Teaching Quality with a result of 83.3 per cent, which exceeds the national average of 81.5 per cent. The data come from the Student Experience Survey (SES) 2016. The SES is a comprehensive survey of current higher education students in Australia. Approximately 178,000 undergraduate students from Australian universities and nonuniversity higher education institutions (NUHEIs) participated in the 2016 SES.
