University of Vocational Technology and Singapore Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) discuss collaboration

Sri Lanka has explored the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between its University of Vocational Technology (UVT) and the Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) in Singapore, to establish collaboration between the two institutions. High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore Senarath Dissanayake and UVT Vice Chancellor Prof Mahesh Edirisinghe recently held discussions with Nanyang Polytechnic on the collaboration. Lankan officials met with the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Nanyang Polytechnic International Esther Bay to discuss skills training and capacity-building programmes.

They also visited the School of Design and Media and the School of Engineering of NYP, where they observed Nanyang Polytechnic’s strong industry engagement, use of industry projects for practical teaching and learning, and the dynamic ecosystem that offers innovative solutions to industries. Minister (commercial) Yasantha Yaddehi of the High Commission and Senior Executive of Nanyang Polytechnic International Raphael Lee participated in the visit. Since 2012, Nanyang Polytechnic has conducted several capacity-building programmes for Lankans, including officials from vocational training institutions in Sri Lanka. The Nanyang Polytechnic which was established in 1992, offers quality education and training through 6 schools for 13,000 students. It conducts 37 full-time diploma courses and common entry programmes and a wide range of continuing education and training options.
