National Vocational Training Institute, Orugodawatta, to be improved with help from S Korea

The Export-Import Bank of Korea has agreed to provide an initial sum of USD1.5 million to the Sri Lanka-Korea National Vocational Training Institute, to improve existing facilities and courses. Located in Orugodawatta, the institute was built with Rs2,900 million financial assistance from the Bank in August 2019. The project, which is expected to see its completion within six months, will facilitate courses such as automotive technology, manufacturing technology, welding technology, electrical technology, electronic technology, automation and robotic technology, fluid power technology and mechatronic technology.

A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the proposed project has received the clearance of the Attorney General and obtained the agreement of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Foreign Resources Department. The Cabinet approved the proposal presented by Education Minister Susil Premajayantha to sign the MoU.
