LYCEUM NUGEGODA CLAIMS VICTORY AT UNDER-19 INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

Lyceum International Nugegoda prove themselves victors at the Under 19 International Schools Cricket CHAMPIONSHIP 2023. The team displayed remarkable teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication throughout the tournament which led to them winning the championship. The final match was a thrilling spectacle, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of both teams.

This accomplishment reflects the values of true sportsmanship and teamwork that are integral to the game. This victory was possible due to the hard work and smart strategy of the U-19 team; Duvindu Silva (Captain), Sachira Delankawala, Abilash Sasidharma, Thevindu Bandara, Lashika Shewan, Anuda Ranasinghe, Shevan Silva, Karunnyan Ponkovan, Shenal Perera, Banula Kumbukdeniya, Sadeesa Akash, Duvindu Silva, Shaheer Shifan, Nushan de Silva, Sethika Balasuriya, Imadh Siraj, Shaveen Edirisinghe, Janithu Jayathilaka, Rahul Hettiarachchi, and Bometh Samarasinghe, along with the dedicated coaches who ensured this success for the team; Chamara Guruge (Head Coach), Thisal Karunathunga, Kasun Madusanka, Tharindu De Silva (Master in Charge), and Ashok Abeywickramaarachchi (Master in Charge and Coach).

The team’s individual performance highlights show Batting Figures: Shaheer Shifan 36(39), Aritha Vinnal 27(10), Thevindu Bandara 23(35); Bowling Figures: Duvindu Silva with 22 runs in 5 Overs, and 4 Wickets (Hat-Trick); Sethika Balasuriya with 22 Runs in 5 Overs and 4 Wickets. The U-19 team and coaches hope this victory inspires the young cricketers of Lyceum Nugegoda to continue striving for excellence and reach new heights in their cricketing careers.
