St. Peter’s College, Colombo 04 Colours night 2023

St. Peter’s College, Colombo 04 has permanently etched its name in the history of sport in Sri Lanka. Producing international level sportsmen, as well as clinching Championship after Championship in every single one of our sports. Carrying on this colossal legacy, Peterites have performed exceptionally well throughout the past 4 years.

The extent of this exceptional performance was clearly evident in the recently concluded Peterite Colours night 2023. The Peterite Colours night for this year was held on the 13th of January, this magnanimous event was made even more special as St. Peter’s College, Colombo 04 celebrates a Century since her inauguration.

  • With over 400 hundred sportsmen receiving Colours and Merit awards and a whopping 38 Sportsmen crowned as Most Outstanding players for representing Sri Lanka in the international arena, this year’s Colours night certainly stood out from all others. Every year one sportsman among all others is bestowed the honour of being the Most Outstanding Sportsman of the year.
  • For the year 2019 Master Shabeer Razooniya was awarded this honour, Shabeer is an outstanding footballer who Captained the under-19 Sri Lankan youth side in the AFC championship in Qatar.
  • For the year 2021, Master Viren Netteasinghe, a prolific badminton player who has represented and placed Sri Lanka in the Yonex Sunrise Bangladesh Junior International series has bestowed this honour.

In 2022 this prestigious award was claimed by Master Wanuja Kumara who represented Sri Lanka in the Under 19 world cup which was held in the West Indies. This Lavish event was graced by the Rev. Father Rohitha Rodrigo the rector of St. Peters College and Mr Michael Elias who was the chief guest. Mr Elias is an internationally acclaimed Peterite who captained 5 sports including Cricket and Athletics during his time at St. Peter’s College Colombo 04.

The night in which dreams come true for Peterite Sportsmen ended on a high note with tokens of appreciation being presented to the teachers in charge and the coaches who were the pillars of strength behind the achievements of these Sportsmen. The crowd of over 500 left home with happy smiles looking resplendent with new colours pinned to their blazers.
