NSBM Walk 2019: “Live, Love, Protect”
Every year, NSBM Green University Town holds a variety of colourful events targeting the vibrant youth culture at NSBM and NSBM Walk is one such event where thousands of graduates and undergraduates get together to celebrate “green humanity” and voice a current concern of the society. This year, NSBM is ready to paint the roads in green and blue on Sunday 03rd March 2019 from 1.00 pm onwards around Viharamahadevi Park while commemorating NSBM’s 7th Birthday since its humble beginnings in 2012. This year’s theme is “Live, Love, Protect” which revolves around the broader idea of protecting and loving mother nature where we all live. Being responsible youth of the nation, NSBM undergraduates will parade around the heart of Colombo with displays made from sustainable, reused materials to voice their concerns.
To further emphasize on this year’s theme “Live, Love, Protect”, the management of the NSBM along with the student community is set to donate and plant a few necessary herbal trees at the Viharamahadevi park. Every year, this has been on the agenda of the NSBM Walk as the younger generations need to see how important it is to plant trees and take care of them so that the future generations can reap their benefits as well. The 5km long walk will consist of the Staff of NSBM, Student community of NSBM from all three faculties; School of Business, School of Computing & School of Engineering as well as NSBM alumni and will be adorned with vehicle displays created by students, special vehicles and cosplays. The event will come to a conclusion with an after party at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre. “Live so you shall benefit the world, Love so you shall heal mother nature, Protect because we are part of this Earth….. Now is the time!!!!”
