The American Federation of Festivals Celebrates Islandwide Success at Second Annual Finals in BMICH, Colombo

The American Federation of Festivals (AFF), the first and only USA-based examination board operating in Sri Lanka, successfully concluded its second annual English Literary Festival, showcasing excellence in Public Speaking, Reading and Poetry at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo. The event brought together outstanding young talents from across the island, showcasing the growing recognition and impact of AFF’s internationalstandard competitions in developing essential communication skills among students.
Students representing different cities and regions of Sri Lanka, including Colombo, Kandy, Gampola, Matale, Batticaloa, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Negombo, Wattala and Seeduwa, participated in the finals after successfully qualifying through the first round where all participants received medals, certificates according to their score and performance. The competition highlighted the dedication, confidence, creativity and talent of students from diverse educational backgrounds.
Following an exciting islandwide competition, students from various schools and academies emerged as All Island Champions in multiple categories.
In the Reading category, the All Island Champions represented:
- Royal Academy – Colombo 09
- Heejaz International School- Dehiwala
- St. Thomas Catholic International – Seeduwa
- The Treasure Hunters – Gampola
In the Public Speaking category, the All Island Champions represented:
- Royal International – Colombo 09
- The Treasure Hunters – Gampola
- St. Thomas Catholic International – Seeduwa
In the Poetry category, the All Island Champions represented:
- Harcourts International School- Dehiwala
- Sunrise Academy – Batticaloa
- The Treasure Hunters – Gampola
- Vocab Valley – Wattala

The success of this year’s finals reflects the growing enthusiasm among schools, academies, teachers, and students towards internationally recognised platforms that encourage language development, creativity, and confidence- building.
The American Federation of Festivals (AFF) is now preparing for its 2027 English Literary Festival examination and islandwide competition season, inviting schools, academies, educational institutions and private English teachers across Sri Lanka to register with the examination board. Registered institutions will receive comprehensive competition guidelines and support to prepare students for participation.
