The University of Colombo has reached a unique milestone among Sri Lanka’s universities by emerging as the top ranked university in the country in all four major global rankings. The university has reached the top position among Sri Lankan universities in the Times Higher Education World Rankings, QS World Rankings, Scimago Institutions Rankings, and Webometrics Rankings.
It is the first university in Sri Lanka to achieve the highest rank in all four major global university rankings. The university said in a statement that the achievement has solidified its status as Sri Lanka’s leading academic institution. “This significant achievement marks a historic moment for both the University of Colombo and the broader Sri Lankan higher education system,” the statement stressed. The four prestigious ranking systems evaluate universities based on various criteria, such as academic reputation, research impact, faculty expertise, international diversity, and online presence.
“The University of Colombo’s remarkable performance across these domains has propelled it to global academic recognition, reaffirming its dedication to providing top-notch education and conducting cutting-edge research,” said the university. -SJ
