From Vision to Victory: Trinity College Student Nahidh Naseem Secures National Recognition for Vitals
A healthcare innovation born from personal experience has earned national recognition to Trinity College Kandy student Nahidh Naseem, whose platform Vitals was adjudged National Runner-up in the SLASSCOM Best Innovative Product - School Category, and also secured First Place in the Central Province. Nahidh described the achievement as one of the finest milestones of his life, saying it reflected months of research, perseverance and a firm belief that a simple idea could be transformed into meaningful innovation.
Vitals is designed to make healthcare more accessible and improve patient care through technology, Vitals enables users to manage healthcare information more effectively while supporting informed decision-making. The project, he explained, stemmed from first-hand experiences that encouraged him to view healthcare through a different lens. Instead of challenges, he decided to see those experiences as an opportunity to build a more patient-centric and connected healthcare ecosystem.
That vision became the driving force behind the development of Vitals. The platform did not come to life without continuous research, critical thinking and refinement. While the product was developed independently, Nahidh acknowledged the encouragement and insights of those around him, whose perspectives from both patient and healthcare viewpoints helped shape the platform into a solution grounded in real-world needs.
Trinity College Kandy has played a vital role in providing an environment that bred innovation, confidence and excellence throughout the journey, he added. Looking ahead, Nahidh said Vitals represents far more than an award-winning project. It marks the beginning of a long-term commitment to building technology that creates meaningful social impact. He hopes his journey will inspire other young innovators to believe that lasting change often begins with a single idea, the determination to pursue it, and the courage to turn vision into reality.
