Lyceum Gampaha emerge Under-18 TISSL Badminton Team runners-up
Lyceum International School, Gampaha, emerged runners-up at the Under-18 TISSL Badminton Team Championship 2023, held at the Gateway College indoor facility in Colombo. This was the first time in the history of Lyceum Gampaha that a badminton team was able to record this achievement. Lyceum Gampaha made steady progress in the group stage matches, beating OKI Wattala 4-1 and Lyceum Nugegoda 3-0 to reach the quarter-final stage, where they easily overcame Colombo International School by 3-0. In the semi-final, Lyceum Gampaha beat Gateway International School, Colombo by 3-1 to set up the final against Lyceum International School, Wattala, who turned the tables on their Gampaha opponents and won the title by 3-0. The runners-up team of Lyceum Gampaha included Thisal Waduge, Thevindu Widanage, Chanaka Gamage, Pansilu Fonseka, Binu Supuarachchi, Saviru Gomes and Uden Rajakaruna. The team was coached by Chinthaka Fernando and came under the watchful eyes of the teacher-in-charge Dilshi Ariyawansa.
