Lankan-born Shirani Dhammika Samaranayake Wijesekara, of Milano, Italy, (a cultural mediator and translator to Italian Government services and social services), recently donated exercise books and other items to students from Grades 1-5 of Siri Gunarathana Vidyalaya in Welamitiyawa, Narammala.
This philanthropic activity was done with the help of SI Thilini Sandakelum Abesinghe, Head of Women and Child Care at Weerambugedara Police Station, and Mrs Sachini Dinushika, Child Protection Officer, Divisional Secretariat Office, Weerambugedara The school was established as a temple school at Viharegama Raja Maha Vihara as Sri Arahatta Maliyadewa in July 1922, then in 1942 moved to a land donated by Mr A M Kirimudiyanse, and became a Government-registered school in January 1945.
