LYCEUM WATTALA CLAIMS TOP SPOT AT ISAC 2024

The 22nd edition of the International Schools Athletic Championship (ISAC), hosted by Gateway College Colombo, concluded on February 25th at the Sugathadasa Stadium. The event witnessed a thrilling display of athletic prowess from over 2,000 participants representing 22 schools affiliated with The International Schools of Sri Lanka (TISSL).

Lyceum International School Wattala emerged as the undisputed champions, securing the coveted Overall Championship title for the 14th consecutive year, marking their 15th overall victory in the prestigious tournament. Their dominance was further cemented by a remarkable medal haul of 42 gold, 14 silver, and 16 bronze medals. Several individual athletes from Lyceum Wattala shone brightly, claiming top honors in various categories.

Dilini Rajapakse secured the Under-16 Girls Championship title, while Rehan Perera emerged as joint champion in the Under-18 Boys category. The school also bagged the Under-16 Overall Championship, Under-20 Overall Championship, Under-18 Overall Championship, and the coveted Overall Relay Championship, showcasing their exceptional depth and talent across age groups. Other Lyceum schools also displayed commendable performances.

Lyceum Panadura secured a commendable medal tally with 5 gold, 14 silver, and 9 bronze medals, while Lyceum Ratnapura and Lyceum Nugegoda secured 7 gold, 7 silver, and 9 bronze medals, and 2 gold, 4 silver, and 9 bronze medals respectively. The 22nd ISAC served as a testament to the dedication and talent nurtured within Sri Lanka's international schools. Lyceum Wattala's remarkable performance and the impressive showing of other participating schools highlight the bright future of athletics within the island nation.
