APIIT Sri Lanka hosts its Third Award Ceremony for the NCUK International Foundation Year and APIIT Sri Lanka Foundation

The eagerly awaited Award Ceremony for the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) and APIIT Sri Lanka Foundation was held for the third consecutive year on July 25th, 2024, at the Monarch Imperial Ballroom. The event was graced by Chief Guest, Professor Victoria O’Donnell, Chief Academic Officer of NCUK, Drew Newport , Regional Director for Asia at NCUK, and Adrian Ting, Regional Manager (East, South- East and South Asia) at NCUK, who celebrated the exceptional achievements of students who successfully completed the NCUK International Foundation Year and the APIIT Sri Lanka Foundation programme in Business, Law, and Computing.

With a focus on gearing students not just for undergraduate education but for life, the APIIT Sri Lanka Foundation is offered in three streams: Computing, Business and Law. These programmes have been meticulously designed to meet the specific requirements of the degree programmes awarded by Staffordshire University, UK. The Foundation Programme at APIIT provides a valuable opportunity for students with GCE O/L qualifications who may not intend to pursue GCE A/L studies or those with inadequate GCE A/L qualifications. All three foundation streams aim to prepare students for entry into Staffordshire University degree programmes.

Through these alternative pathways, APIIT Sri Lanka has effectively increased accessibility to higher education in Sri Lanka. NCUK is a consortium of leading universities dedicated to giving international students guaranteed* entry to universities worldwide and helping them succeed when they get there. NCUK supports thousands of students each year on their academic journeys. NCUK has an outstanding track record with over 40,000 students progressing to university since its inception. APIIT Sri Lanka is one of the first Sri Lankan institutes to offer the NCUK IFY, an A Level equivalent qualification that facilitates the transition from secondary to tertiary education.

It provides academic opportunities and a pathway to NCUK partner universities worldwide, offering a wide range of degree courses. The curriculum, developed in collaboration with NCUK universities, focuses on high standards and equips students with language and study skills for university success. Last year, 9 students were honoured as topperforming NCUK students worldwide, receiving prestigious Academic Prize Awards from NCUK in recognition of their outstanding results following the completion of the NCUK IFY, Among these awards was the Winner of the Regional High Achiever Award, recognising the top NCUK IFY student from the South Asia region.

During the ceremony, both the Chairman of APIIT Sri Lanka, Bandula Egodage, and Chief Guest, Professor Victoria O’Donnell, Chief Academic Officer of NCUK took the stage to address the graduates and their proud parents. They extended their heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students for completing their Foundation Programmes at APIIT Sri Lanka. As APIIT Sri Lanka continues to foster a culture of academic excellence, the Ceremony stands as a testament to the institution's commitment to providing students with exceptional educational opportunities.

It marked the beginning of a promising journey for the talented individuals now equipped with the knowledge, skills, and determination to succeed in their chosen fields. Celebrating 25 years of inspiring love for learning, APIIT Sri Lanka is well known for its contribution to the higher education sector in Sri Lanka. APIIT offers undergraduate and postgraduate de g ree pro grammes in Business, Computing, and Law, awarded by Staffordshire University, UK. With a student population of nearly 3,000 students and an annual intake of over 1000 students, APIIT Sri Lanka is one of the largest providers of British degree programmes and pre-university programmes in Sri Lanka, setting a benchmark for quality and standards in private higher education in the country.
