ICBT Kandy Campus became winners of ‘XbotiX-2018’ robotics competition organized by Electrical and Information Engineering Society (EIES) in collaboration with IEEE Student Branch, IET Ruhuna Chapter and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Student Society (MMESS) which was held at the Ruhuna University on 7th of November. In the first round, the robot has to solve a line maze and search for the Counting Bay. At the Counting Bay, it has to count the total number of poles situated. Then should returne to the starting position. After which, robot should reach to the Loading Bay to pick the payload and move to the Construction Bay. At the Construction Bay, robot should identify the correct path based on the pole count and fill the hole with the carried payload.
Thereafter it should proceed to the wall following section and follow the walls to the stopping square in order to complete the task. The difference in the second round is in Loading Bay and wall following section. At the Loading Bay, robot should pick the colored payload based on the pole count. At the beginning of the wall following section, there is a payload. The hole at the stopping square should be filled by that payload. The only difference of the arena from the first round is that there is a 5cm x 5cm x 5cm hole in the middle of stopping square.
This achievement is testament to ICBT Campus and its teaching. Even on previous competitions ICBT Campus students have won many awards at engineering competitions. ICBT Colombo Campus also took part in the Competition and ended being 6th. ICBT Campus delivers engineering degrees and HNDs in areas of Electrical/ Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive, Civil and Bio Medical Engineering in association with Birmingham City University UK and Liverpool John Moors University UK.
