Clinical training at Homagama Base Hospital after upgrade to a teaching hospital

A new Faculty of Medicine is to be established at the National School of Business Management (NSBM) under the supervision of the Education Ministry, Health Ministry, and the Sri Lanka Medical Council. The Homagama Base Hospital will serve as the hospital for the clinical training required for the degree. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to upgrade it to a teaching hospital. 500 local and foreign students are expected to enroll annually for the degree. NSBM will provide the necessary funds for the development of Homagama Base Hospital in accordance with the standards of medical education of the Sri Lanka Medical Council. -DW
