Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Rohitha Bogollagama has said that a number of British entrepreneurs were eager to invest in Sri Lanka, particularly in the field of higher education. HC Bogollagama said this at ‘Sri Lanka Business Drive 2024’, an interactive roundtable discussion held at the Sri Lanka High Commission in London ‘Ratnadeepa Hall’, in association with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC). Some of the British investors present at the event, according to Bogollagama, are considering establishing a digital university in Sri Lanka.
They have expressed interest in ICT-driven investments that center on establishing a generative artificial intelligence (AI) hub in the Port City of Colombo. The objective of the roundtable discussion was to promote cooperation, communication, and exchange of information regarding investment prospects between the business community in the UK and Sri Lanka. -NA
