EDEX Expo 2024: Fostering Leaders of Tomorrow

In its commitment to offering aspiring Sri Lankan youth comprehensive insights into a diverse array of opportunities in higher education, training, gainful employment, and entrepreneurship; EDEX Expo 2024, Sri Lanka's oldest, largest, and premier Education Expo, is set to unfold from the 9th to the 11th of February at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) in Colombo and in Kandy on the 17th and 18th of February 2023 at the Kandy City Centre (KCC), further extending the reach of this significant educational showcase. Uniting a collection of top-tier local and international universities and higher education institutions, the event presents an extensive range of higher education choices in one central location.

This arrangement provides students with a swift and convenient method of identifying the most suitable qualifications for their desired career paths. Furthermore, numerous institutions featured at the expo extend opportunities for partial or full scholarships, including some exclusive offers available only through the EDEX Expo. Edex Nenapahana - From Point Pedro to Point Dondra Since its establishment in 2012, Edex Nenapahana, a subsidiary of EDEX, has expanded its influence to encompass over 140 schools across 21 districts, reaching from Point Pedro to Point Dondra. The tangible impact is evident as the programme significantly contributes to enhancing the lives of children within these communities.

Edex Nenapahana stands as an outreach programme dedicated to breathing life into the aspirations of students facing educational disparities in rural and remote areas. This initiative is characterised by donation of books, computers, and furniture to schools in need, along with support to enhance their library facilities. Furthermore, Nenapahana extends its assistance by providing sports equipment and musical instruments, fostering the development of athletic and artistic talents among deserving students.

Edex Nenapahana joined forces with Sri Lanka Association of Australia Awards Alumni (SLAAAA), adding an international dimension to its efforts. This collaboration emphasizes the significance of global cooperation in empowering Sri Lankan youth. Working with various stakeholders, including the Royal College Union, its alumni sub-organizations located around the world, Brigade commanders, and other officials, Edex Nenapahana reflects a collective effort to address the needs of marginalised communities. In its efforts, Edex Nenapahana has collaborated with multiple initiatives including with Madawachchiya Divisional Secretariat to distribute books collected at the Royal College Union and Colombo International Book Fair to several schools, including Galdeniya Kanishta Vidyalaya, Kappitiwilana; Kandegedara Maha Vidyalaya, Maharachchimulla; Galgamuwa Maha Vidyalaya, Maharachchimulla; and Aandiyadeniya Primary School, Maharachchimulla, within the Alawwa Zonal Education Division.

Stationery items were also distributed among 968 students in 20 schools, and essentials like school uniforms were provided for 32 students identified by the Divisional Secretariat under the “Mihilaka Medura” initiative. In commemoration of its 20th anniversary, the EDEX Expo will introduce new features and enhanced benefits, including the incorporation of cutting-edge technology to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience for all participants to explore the myriad opportunities it has to offer. EDEX Expo will kick off at 9:30 am and conclude at 6:00 pm on all days in Colombo, while in Kandy, it will run from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
