Lyceum Int. Wattala bag title for eighth successive year

INTER-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS’ KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2018

Lyceum International School Wattala secured the overall championship for the eighth consecutive year of the International Schools Karate Championship held recently at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo. Karate, being one of the popular sports in Sri Lanka today, Leeds International School - Panadura has been organizing the Karate Championship for the International Schools since the year 2009. Lyceum Wattala has been maintaining the championship trophy for the past seven years, while adding its eighth victory this year, under the guidance of Sensei R.J. Alexander.

The tournament was held recently at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium Colombo, where 16 international schools participated. Lyceum Wattala gained 174 medals to claim the championship while Leeds International School became runners-up with 98 medals and Lyceum International School, Nugegoda came in third place with a Medal count of 60. Lyceum Wattala also walked away with the Under-8, 10, 11, 12 and 16 upcoming player trophies and Under-11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 18 Age Group championship trophies, displaying its excellence in skill and discipline.
