The oriental music society of Trinity College Kandy wins first place
The oriental music society of Trinity College Kandy won the first place in the all island music and drama competition 2018 organized by the ministry of Education on 30th June and 1st of July . By competing for the first time under the Karnatic Raag category. The tune was composed by the oriental music teacher Mr. Upula Edirisinghe according to raag Basanth Mukhari. Along with that item an instrumental duet was also performed (violin & flute) b y Master.B.wijesinghe and Master. S.K Fernando accompanied by Master U.C Raj a rathne and Master.T.B Herath. This item placed 3rd in the all island level which was composed according to raag Brindawani Saranga by the oriental music teacher Mr.Upula Edirisinghe. Trinity college oriental music society has achieved many victories in all island level in different categories. The first one was in 1987 and late they were successful in winning the first place in 1990,1992,1993,1994,1996,19 99,2001,2003,2004,2006 and 2014. This years’ victory is a great triumph for the Trinitians as they had been waiting for 4 years without securing the first place in all island competitions.
