Stafford International School win two Tennis titles

The Stafford International School’s (SIS) Under-14 and Under-20 boy’s tennis teams claimed two championships in the recent days, overcoming some of the strongest contenders in the field. SIS took part in the Inter-International School Under-14 Tennis Tournament 2018 and emerged champions after a worthy campaign. The tournament was organised for the first time by The British School of Colombo, and it took place at its courts in Borella. In the group stage matches SIS sealed a 3-0 victory against Lyceum Ratnapura and went on to win against Lyceum Wattala with a 2-1 win. Their next team was the British School of Colombo, in which SIS triumphed 2-1.

As a result of being top in the group SIS next faced the second team in the other group, which was the Asian International School in the semi-final. Stafford International School beat them 2-1, a remarkable opportunity for them to win their first ever tennis tournament. Lyceum Nugegoda was a strong team to defeat and after another hard fought battle SIS won the championship with scores of 2-1. In the Under-20 Tennis Tournament conducted by Asian International School at the SSC in Colombo SIS claimed yet another deserving silverware. They won against Gateway Colombo and Lyceum Wattala in the group stage and beat CIS Colombo in the semi-final. The final was played against Lyceum Nugegoda and SIS beat them comprehensively to emerge champions.
