An old student inter-house athletic festival from St. Mary’s College Negombo, for the first time in the history of Sri Lanka

With the initiative of the Old Boys Association of Negombo St. Mary’s College “ Back to Sports meet “ an old student’s inter-house Sportsmeet is being organized & is scheduled to be held on Saturday 16th of June 2018, for the first time in the history of Sports in Sri Lanka. The St. Mary’s College Old Boys Association of Negombo founded in 1920 with the guidance & patronage of Rev. Fr. Britten has always maintained a close relationship thereby extending a much committed & dedicated service towards the well–being of the school right through out.

And as the 150th anniversary celebration of St. Mary’s College takes place in 2021, at the same time the Old Boys Association will also celebrate their centenary. In parallel with their celebrations a proposed vocational skills center & Training Programmes in respect of relative terms & also of diversifying aspects, is currently being organized & to be implemented , with the sole aim of strengthening & motivating school students who have just left school after completing their O/L & A/L Examinations thus in terms of enabling them in achieving their future goals.

Therefore it is with this intention in mind “ Back to Sportsmeet “ is being organized in terms of diverting old students towards raising funds for this worthy cause thereby recalling golden memories of the past athletes of the school. The inauguration of the Sportsmeet will take place on June 16th 2018, at 7.30 am at St. Mary’s Play ground with the lighting of the Olympic Lamp ( Having brought the Olympic torch from the St. Mary’s church to the college ground. We invite all past Students of the School Playground to join hands & unite with us in this worthy cause.
