Soft Skills with Public Speaking for Children

(6-14 years) This is the final intake for this year.

SOUND VALUES

The training provides children with important life skills and sound values, as well as skills in public speaking. Topics covered include the following: Speak out – Insights to Public Speaking, Developing a personal vision for life- Financial literacy and saving, family , education, career, Social Skills- greeting and getting on with adults, peers and those outside immediate circle, Being a confident communicator and building rapport, Listening Skills and empathy, Self - confidence and self- control, Debating and thinking out of the box, Creative writing - mind maps & answer plans, Powerful Presentation skills including using PowerPoint, Fun with cooking, Team Building - scavenger hunt, Cultural sensitivity – learning about diverse religions and cultures in Sri Lanka, Dealing with bullying, Overcoming peer pressure

FUN-FILLED LEARNING

In the highly competitive school environment that children have to deal with, Rainbow Institute provides two refreshing hours for children every Saturday. This special time provides motivational training, with fun-filled action to empower children.

PERSONALIZED COACHING

This training provides personalized coaching over a duration of 30 hours. (Approximately 4 months) As sessions are limited to small numbers, each child gets individual attention and is guided to bring out the best of his or her own distinctive strengths.

ENGAGEMENT OF PARENTS

Recognizing the role and responsibility of parents in moulding the children, Rainbow Institute invites parents to witness the final session and see the progress of their children. The training for the new batch is scheduled on Saturdays, from 9.00 am – 11.00 am at the Rainbow Institute, No.28, School Lane, Colpetty. The new batch commences on Saturday, 23rd November 2019.

INDIVIDUAL COACHING

Rainbow Institute also offers individual coaching for children who want to excel in English and also for those who take part in Speech, Debating and Oratorical competitions. Many students from the Rainbow Institute have shone at school and won awards at national level competitions. Children and young adults, who have learning difficulties are also provided personal coaching to develop confidence and bring out their best.

COURSE DIRECTOR

The empowerment programmes at Rainbow Institute are directed by eminent University academic, Dr. Mahim Mendis. Dr Mahim Mendis, a product of St Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, has been mentoring and teaching in Sri Lanka and abroad for three decades. Dr. Mendis, the former Spokesman of the Federation of University Teachers Associations (FUTA), is well known as a powerful public speaker. Dr Mendis is supported by dynamic young trainers with high credentials and international exposure.
