SLIM to provide DPMC staff with marketing knowledge

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) has joined hands with David Pieris Motor Company (Pvt) Ltd (DPMC) to offer the Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM) to DPMC’s sales team branches based around the country. This collaboration between the national body for marketing and the largest automotive company in Sri Lanka will help to spread the fundamentals of marketing by tapping into the DPMC’s extensive, island-wide network of over 18,000 sales, spare parts and service dealerships.

The MoU for this purpose was signed between SLIM and DPMC at the SLIM Home in Colombo and representatives from both organizations participated. The SLIM Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM) opens doors for young executives and school leavers to venture into the fascinating yet philosophical world of marketing. The basics and fundamental theories of marketing in the PCM curriculum are suited not only for potential marketers, but also for non-marketers who aspire to better their careers.

PCM students will also be provided with knowledge concerning the Sri Lankan context in marketing, which is a vital aspect for enhancing their careers. The national body for marketing will award them with a valid certificate, which is recognized by the corporate fraternity in Sri Lanka, which leads upto the Postgraduate Diploma (PGDIP) in Marketing As the national body for marketing in Sri Lanka, SLIM has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing since 1970. It is a member of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), the Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA), the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) and the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC). 

Internationally it is affiliated with the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) as a member of its board of management. SLIM is certified under ISO 9001:2015 certification in recognition of SLIM’s superior quality management system and ISO 29990:2010 for Learning Service Provider (LSP), proving non-formal education and training services in Sri Lanka. DPMC is the flagship company of the David Pieris Group and is the largest automotive company in Sri Lanka.
